A few field notes

Before you draw. Before you ride.

The things every cowboy ought to know.

Getting into town

What is Frontier?+

A single-player Wild West survival game in your browser. Pick your gear and survive six increasingly difficult waves of undead cowboys in First Town.

Do I need to download anything?+

No. Open the game in your browser and sign in. The website and game share one account, wallet and inventory. First Town is free.

Can I play on my phone?+

Yes. Our mobile prototype uses two sticks in landscape: left to move; right to aim. Push the right stick into its outer ring to fire. Physical-device testing is ongoing.

A quick field guide

How do desktop controls work?+

WASD moves, Shift runs, the mouse aims, and the left mouse button fires. Q or 1 / 2 switches prepared weapons. R reloads, F drinks a healing tonic, and Esc pauses.

How do I aim without firing on mobile?+

Keep the right stick in its inner zone to aim. Move into the outer ring to fire, and return inward to stop. With dynamite, release to throw; return to the center before releasing to cancel.

Can I change my gear between waves?+

Your prepared loadout stays fixed for the run. You can switch between your two equipped weapons, but there are no temporary upgrades between waves.

What do healing and revives do?+

A healing tonic restores 30% of maximum health. Bring up to five per run. Second Chance automatically revives you with full health and brief invulnerability, up to twice per run. It does not replenish armor or spent supplies.

Coins, gear & your legend

What happens to my coins if I lose?+

Collected run coins only reach your wallet after victory. On defeat, the coins are lost but earned XP is saved. Leaving a run early currently awards neither.

What do new players start with?+

Every new hero starts with a cowboy outfit and a revolver. Other gear is unlocked for purchase by earning enough total XP. Purchases spend wallet coins, not XP.

Do I keep my purchases?+

Weapons, armor vests and cosmetic items are permanent. Tonics, defense elixirs, dynamite sticks and revives are consumables. Bring limited supplies into a run; unused supplies return to your stock when it is settled.

Can I buy coins with real money?+

Not yet. This build uses test coins. The account wallet can be restored to 100 test coins for trying the shop. No card payment or real-money purchase is currently available.

How does the leaderboard work?+

The early access leaderboard ranks active players by total saved XP, including XP from past and new test runs. Equal scores share the same place. Finish a run and save its results to enter the standings; players with zero XP remain Unranked.

What happens if I close a tab during a run?+

An unfinished run remains attached to your account. The game offers recovery of unused supplies when you return. Recovery ends that run; full resume is not available yet.
